Randoms
Looking at random photos on flickr of Philadelphia i came across this one. Taken of a newer mural on south street on the firehouse. At first I didn't see the UWP sticker on the sign. I thought this was funny so I showed UWP and this is what he had to say:
" That's cool man. I hope that shit happens a lot. Popping up and putting ripples in peoples lives yaknow, just like in a little way. Thats all it's ment to do, little shits here and there yaknow. I hope that shit is in some family album. Our Trip TO Philadelphia. Hope grandma gets to see album on her next Sunday visit right. Look at that little monster on the sign, what fuck-head put that there?" UWP

PREVIEW
This is a piece of a sketch for a project between ??? and UWP. So far its coming along really nicely.
Today is all about feeling craptastic and drawing collabs. Im so sick of coloring stuff, rarely do i color anything these days unless its a collab set-up or finish, or a canvas. I feel like black and white works better with UWP then color, unless its all one color. To me color is annoying to look at alot of the time. Plus the overall message UWP is trying to get across doesn't work when its got a bunch of color all over it. Backrounds though, that's a completely different story. The more color the better.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
not too often do i find an album of a band i never heard of and am down right off the bat. Phoenix is sick. Chill good feeling tunes all the way. I reckon they are french, or so i thought i read. But yeah, check em out, you can damn near listen to the whole album on youtube from the comfort of your warm house. Im sure you can illegally download it as well. In this day and age, god forbid we give any musical artists any of our hard earned money right. People should be able to illegally download our paintings too. Writers books, you name it. That way anybody with any original creativity gets to run the shitty 9 to 5 rat race. Keep the rat race alive!

sore feet
Shit, haven't updated in a day or two. Columbus flea market in New Jersey is pretty much the most epic thing you could check out. Random people selling all types of random shit. We set out early thins morning to scope out some items and to see some haggard people. Both were accomplished easily.
LIST OF THINGS FOUND AND PURCHASED by the crew:
-old cassette tape radio, mint condition
-gloves
-2 jesus hats, cause were all so damn religious... hahaha
-pins from like 1920's
-mad amount of socks
-extremely large pretzels
-awesome shirts with wizards and indians ect
-stink bombs
-wolf packs
-epic old posters
-jacket
-blow darts
-dagger
-ring
-pizza
-soda
Basically the market is the best thing ever to do on a sunday morning. I didnt see any amish people though, which i was pretty bummed on. amish people rule in case ya didn't know.

Thurs
Thursday nights, not too bad really, seems there is always a little shindig going down. A nice excuse to have a few beers on an otherwise lame almost-weekend day.
Some fools came over last night. Plenty of beers were drank, noodle soup was made, and a few collabs went down. Highlight of the night was Ticky drawing on a dudes face with a big ass marker. Dude allowed this to happen due to it was in exchange for a cig. Pretty damn funny.

In The Works
So these are two up close shots of paintings i'm working on. They both still have a lot work until they are done, but so far i like where they are headed.
Working with larger scale canvas is a joy and a headache all at the same time. I enjoy the movement involved though, having to step back to see whats going on as well as the larger area a brush can move in. Long swoops of paint. All that jazz.
It gives me time to think though, about how much i hate art. Or the term artist. Or the people that call themselves artists, or the need to create. I think that's what i hate, the damn need to create something. I don't hate art or artists, just the need to create.
Im not the type of person that sees what the finished piece is in my head before i start, i just wing it. But i know what i want the overall end result to be like. I know i want people to look at it and think "that fool has talent, but why did he do this that way? Why is it so fucked and lovely". Ehhh, maybe i don't know what i want people to think?
The non creative people are lucky in my opinion. They get to sleep while we are hunched over in a dirty smoke filled work space choking on paint fumes till 6 am. Get to be sitting down to a nice dinner while we are standing on a corner watching traffic patterns waiting for the perfect time write on the wall behind us. Bastards.
The longer i'm alive, the more i realize i have no idea what im doing.

Damon photo Demon
Too many people consider or call themselves photographers these days. Just cause you own a fancy new digital camera doesn't mean you can take pictures worth looking at. There are though a few photographers in Philly that really know their stuff. I like their work and i often ask myself how on earth they got that shot. Were they laying on the ground? Did they stand up on something? Does their camera hold some sort of black magic? Did they wait for months for the perfect timing, or did they get lucky and it happened in an instant?
I like seeing pictures where i don't understand how it looks so amazing. It looks like the photo has always existed and was made by some super computer in some underground laboratory the goverment doesnt want you to know about. Damon Landry has been taking this type of quality photo for years. I first noticed his work on flickr, he was taking a lot of pictures of the sticker art he saw throughout his day that he enjoyed. Damon has taken over 500 pictures of UWP stickers dating all the way back to January in 2007.
But soon i started really looking at all the pictures that weren't of stickers. People, buildings, buses, puddles, reflections, straight lines, all these things I would walk past everyday and never saw. Damon truly has an eagle eye for what makes a great photo.
I check flickr everyday, not for sticker art, not for who collab'd with who, but to scope out Damon's flickr and see what brilliant photo he got today.
I'd like to say cheers to Damon. Your photography is top notch my friend. I wish you the best! Thanks man.

#1Unicorn Bitches
Working on some bigger canvas as of yesterday. This is 16" by 20". Im kind of tired of doing small ones right now. The bigger space gives you so much area to work in. This is the sketch, based off a recent "unicorn" sticker i have had printed up. Up late painting the backround last night. Hoping it all turns out good. I have another canvas this size to im doing, but no previews for that one.

Ink Joy - UWP - Arks collab sticker
This collab was started by Ink Joy in the UK. He sent it over and i passed it on to Arks (Ark The Shark) who finished it up really well.
So much art on piece of paper is really an inspirational thing in my opinion. I often wonder is people realize the amount of work that goes into some of the art created for public display.
I also wonder why so much effort goes into something that is so easily destroyed by the weather amongst other things. But thats the way it goes i guess. To me as long as one random person gets to appreciate it, it was all worth it.

Pole Dance
Over the past year or more signs have been raised to keep stickers off of them. This lazy city worker didn't bother to scrap the pole though. I've seen this occurrence before but never got a chance to get a pic due to a camera not being my top priority in my pocket. Little shout out on there to WTF and DASH.
